Acrylic Gemstones
Acrylic gemstones are made of a high clarity plastic equivalent to Lucite or Plexiglass.
The best grades of acrylic resin produce gemstones of the finest quality.
All products in our estore are made of this material.

Plastic Gemstones
Plastic gemstones are made of a common plastic called polystyrene.
Polystyrene has good clarity at lower cost, but lacks the chemical resistance of acrylic.
Consequently gemstones made with polystyrene are easily damaged by solvents such as acetone,
a common solvent used in many kinds of glue.
Allstarco produces polystyrene plastic gemstones on special order.

Colors and Finishes
Gemstones are mostly sold as crystal clear or transparent colors with a mirror-like foil backing.
They can also be produced in opaque colors, pearl finishes, as well as plated finishes such as silver or gold.
An assortment of colors are kept in stock, and almost any color can be produced with a minimum order.
Any colored product can be further overcoated with a clear iridescent AB (Aurora Borealis) coating thus providing yet another dimension of options.
